President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements at the Family and Population 10-Year Vision Promotion Program held at the Haliç Congress Center by the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Erdoğan pointed out the decline in the fertility rate in Turkey and emphasized the importance of strengthening the family institution. In his speech, he stated that his 2007 call for "at least three children" has proven to be justified over time.
Erdoğan addressed the negative effects of past wrong approaches in population policies and expressed that these policies devalued the family. He also defined the family as the cornerstone of society, saying that strong families mean strong individuals and societies.
The President noted that the family structure faces changes and challenges in the digital age and stated that Turkey has taken determined steps to protect and strengthen the family during this process. He noted that developments such as the increase in marriage age, rising divorce rates, and declining fertility rate are among the global trends affecting Turkey as well.
Within the scope of the program, awards were presented to those who ranked in competitions organized as part of the 2025 Family Year events. Erdoğan stated that the importance given to the family will be better understood in the future and that efforts to strengthen the family will continue.
