El Basha Tebeig, advisor to Mohammed Hamdan 'Hemedti' Dagalo, commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, announced that a "decisive step" such as cutting the oil flow would be taken if drone attacks by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) continue. Drone attacks carried out by SAF on towns in South Kordofan, East Darfur, and West Kordofan have caused civilian casualties and infrastructure damage. Officials linked to the RSF described these attacks as systematic actions targeting civilians. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights reported that drone attacks caused the deaths of at least 880 civilians in the first four months of 2026, accounting for more than 80% of conflict-related civilian deaths. Tebeig stated that the attacks negatively affect civilian life and that restrictions on oil flow could occur if they continue. International human rights organizations criticized the parties for failing to reach consensus on issues other than oil despite agreeing on oil matters. Additionally, a drone attack by the RSF on Khartoum International Airport and its surroundings was reported for the first time since October. The UN World Food Programme also draws attention to the humanitarian situation in the region.
