Roger Waters, one of the founders of Pink Floyd, sharply criticized the decision to remove US rapper Macklemore from concerts on Ed Sheeran’s tour because of his support for Palestine.

Waters began the video posted on X with the words, “Who is Ed?” and pointed to the portraits behind him. Among them were Palestinian artist Bisan Owda, Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur on Palestine, and a woman from Gaza.
Waters said there were two types of people in the world: those who “do the right thing” and those who “do the wrong thing.” He cited Macklemore as an example of the first group and placed Sheeran in the second, using harsh language about him.

Macklemore’s statements on Palestine
Grammy Award-winning Macklemore has publicly expressed his support for Palestine many times since the Israeli attacks on Gaza began in 2023. The rapper was removed from the remaining concerts on Sheeran’s US tour following these statements.
Macklemore also donated the proceeds from “Hind’s Hall 2,” a song he produced with Palestinian artists to support Gaza, to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees. Israeli allegations against UNRWA were described as unfounded.
