French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday, August 5, via social media platform X that the European Union and its partners will continue to systematically increase military support for Ukraine, and will also strengthen sanctions and political pressure on Moscow.
Russia responded harshly to this statement. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova argued that Macron's words were a direct instruction for Kyiv to carry out a 'terrorist attack'.

Zakharova said, "By calling for increased pressure on Russia, Macron is openly ordering the execution of 'terrorist acts' against civilians. France should know that its administration is personally involved in terrorist activities against women and children."
Zakharova's comment came shortly after Macron reiterated that support for Ukraine would continue.
