Orientation Week for students beginning preschool, first grade of primary school and fifth grade of middle school in the 2026–2027 academic year will begin tomorrow. The program will continue through September 11.
Orientation Week will last five days for preschool and first-grade primary school students and three days for fifth-grade middle school students.
Program to continue throughout the academic year
The Preschool Education School Orientation Guide prepared as part of the orientation program includes a five-day schedule, the responsibilities of stakeholders, points requiring attention, and examples of games and activities.
Programs for preschool, first-grade primary school and fifth-grade middle school students are planned to be held every month throughout the academic year. The play-based and experiential modules will also include out-of-school learning environments as part of school-family cooperation.
Goals set for each level
The preschool education program aims to ensure the active participation of families in the education process and enable children to relate the knowledge, skills and values they acquire at school to their daily-life experiences with their families.
The first-grade primary school program aims to familiarize students with school administrators, teachers, school staff, school environments and school routines. It also provides for students to develop a sense of belonging, express their needs and take on responsibilities appropriate to their age.
The fifth-grade middle school program aims to familiarize students with the middle school’s new structure, subject teachers, learning environments and avenues for assistance. Students are expected to communicate effectively with their teachers and peers, develop a sense of belonging, and manage their lessons and responsibilities more regularly.
Administrative leave arrangement for public employee parents
In line with a letter sent by the Presidential General Secretariat to public institutions and organizations, one parent employed in the public sector may, upon request, be granted administrative leave during orientation week classes. The leave will correspond to the class hours at the educational institution where the student is enrolled and may not exceed three hours.
According to the 2026–2027 academic calendar, the first semester at schools will begin on Monday, September 14.
