Şenol Güneş says he did not resent the national team coaching decision
Former Türkiye national football team head coach Şenol Güneş said comments he made during a program he attended in Trabzon were interpreted differently by the public. Güneş said his remark, “They did not speak with me,” expressed no expectation, resentment or reproach, and wished Sergen Yalçın success.

Güneş said his response to a question about the national team coaching position during the program was interpreted by the public as resentment over Sergen Yalçın being appointed to the post.
Güneş said the remark, “They did not speak with me,” was a direct answer to the question and noted that it expressed no expectation, resentment or reproach.
Güneş said decisions regarding the national team were made by the relevant institutions and officials, adding that responsibility for those decisions also belonged to those institutions and officials.
Wishing Sergen Yalçın success, Güneş said, “The national team’s success is the shared wish of us all.”
