Sergen Yalçın said he has accepted the head coach job of the Türkiye national football team. Speaking on Kafa Sports' YouTube broadcast, Yalçın said he had agreed a four-year deal with the Turkish Football Federation (TFF).
"I didn't even discuss my salary. I agreed a four-year deal. In the end, we will be working for the national team, which is very valuable. Money and other matters come second," Yalçın said.
"The crescent and star are above everything"
Stressing that the national team stands far above club teams, Yalçın said: "The crescent and star are above everything. It is the place every coach wants to come to. God willing, the road of the national team awaits us, with pride, with happiness and with the support of our people."

Yalçın said he has a friendship with TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu. "He called, we talked, and I responded positively," he said.
"My door is open to everyone"
On squad selection, Yalçın said: "I want to rebuild unity within the national team. My door is open to everyone regardless of club, as long as the players deserve the jersey." He added: "We will try to get the public to rally behind the national team."
Yalçın also described Kenan Yıldız as one of the most important and valuable players in the national team.
All eyes on the TFF announcement
The TFF board is expected to meet at 3 p.m. local time today and announce the new coach after the meeting. Some earlier reports said the contract would run until the federation's election in summer 2027. Financial terms have not been disclosed.
If his appointment is confirmed, Yalçın will take over the post left vacant after Vincenzo Montella's departure, and his first test will be a UEFA Nations League match against Belgium at İzmir's Gürsel Aksel Stadium on Nov. 12. Türkiye will then face France away on Nov. 15.
