Seven productions greet audiences in theaters this week. Among them are a highly anticipated re-release, a new animation, and a Turkish horror film, each bringing stories from different genres to the screen.
Spider-Man: No Way Home
The 2021 film starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Benedict Cumberbatch, directed by Jon Watts, returns to the silver screen. It follows Spider-Man, whose identity is exposed, as he asks Doctor Strange for help, throwing him into an impossible adventure.
Virginia Woolf's Night and Day
The film, starring Haley Bennett, Elyas M'Barek and Lily Allen, is directed by Tina Gharavi. A co-production of the US, Germany and the UK, it tells the story of a young woman torn between love, freedom and the desire for self-fulfillment.
Dalga
The political musical directed by Chilean filmmaker Sebastian Lelio centers on feminist student movements that start at a university in Chile and women's rebellion against the culture of silence in male-dominated institutions. A US-Chile co-production, the film blends collective resistance with music.
Minions and Monsters
Directed by Pierre Coffin, the animation brings to the screen in an entertaining way the Minions' entry into Hollywood, their rise to stardom, and their struggle to stop the chaos caused by the monsters they unleashed on the world after losing everything.
Sleepwalker
The horror-thriller from Brandon Auman tells the story of a woman who loses her daughter in a traffic accident and whose husband falls into a coma, as her increasingly severe sleepwalking episodes blur the lines between reality and nightmares.
Autopsy
Starring Willa Holland, Paul Sparks and John Adams and directed by Jeremiah Kipp, the film follows a mortuary science graduate who encounters supernatural events in the morgue where she works.
Curse of the Dead
This week's Turkish horror film brings to the screen the extraordinary events that begin when a body that could not be buried because it remained unclaimed at the morgue, believed to be cursed, is taken by its relatives.
