European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas signaled new sanctions following Russia's latest missile and drone attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.
In a statement on her X social media account, Kallas said: "Today, in response to the attacks, I will propose sanctions on more entities that support Russia's military-industrial complex."
Stressing that condemnation alone will not stop the attacks on Kyiv, Kallas emphasized the need to boost military support for Ukraine and pressure on Moscow.
Recalling that the EU disbursed 6 billion euros this week under a 90-billion-euro loan facility designed to bolster Kyiv's defenses, Kallas said: "We will continue to increase the cost until Russia realizes it cannot win."
According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, the Russian military attacked across Ukraine the same day with 74 missiles and 496 combat drones.
Meanwhile, the EU had proposed a new sanctions package in early June targeting Russia's economy, covering banking, energy, and trade sectors. New sanctions against Russia require unanimity among all member states to enter into force.
