Six suspects detained in İZBETON investigation in İzmir
The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has detained six people, including company executives, as part of an investigation into allegations of corruption and forgery in 2023 tenders at the municipality-affiliated İZBETON AŞ.
As part of an investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is alleged that irregularities occurred in two separate tenders of İZBETON AŞ, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, in 2023. Six suspects, including company executives and technical personnel, have been detained.
The investigation file includes charges of 'forgery of official documents', 'rigging of contract performance' and 'abuse of office' against the suspects. It was stated that these charges are based on two separate tender processes conducted in 2023.
Operation and detentions
Teams from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch conducted an operation on the order of the prosecutor's office. Within the scope of the operation, former company executives H. Ş, M. A. B, and G. B, as well as electrical engineer S. Ö, civil engineer S. Ç., and warehouse supervisor S. A., were taken into custody. The suspects' procedures at the gendarmerie are ongoing.
Detention warrant for former general manager
A detention warrant was also issued for former İZBETON AŞ General Manager Heval Savaş Kaya as part of the investigation. However, it was stated that Kaya is currently detained on other charges and therefore could not be taken into custody. Warrants have been issued for a total of seven suspects.
