Sumud Fleet activists, who set out to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and were subjected to intervention by Israeli forces in international waters, were welcomed at Istanbul Airport VIP Terminal. The fleet included over 420 activists from 39 countries, with 85 participants being Turkish citizens, who were taken under treatment in various hospitals. Those lightly injured drew attention to the mistreatment they experienced during a press statement. Despite the difficulties they faced, the activists stated they would begin preparations to set out again. HAK-İŞ General President Mahmut Arslan emphasized that the international community must hold accountable those responsible for these interventions. Law Professor Frank Romano expressed that they would set out again with the freedom fleet and thanked Turkey for its support. Activist Mecid Bağçivan said they set out to show the ongoing blockade and violence in Gaza. Mavi Marmara Association President Beheşti İsmail Songür reported that preparations continue to set out with more ships and that they faced obstacles at the Libya border. These developments in international waters once again highlighted the difficulties of humanitarian aid efforts in the region.
