Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate will spend at least two more weeks in a Miami jail as their UK extradition process continues. Federal Magistrate Judge Lauren Louis postponed the bail hearing to August 13.
Their attorney, Joseph McBride, told reporters that his clients, accused of sexual crimes against children, have "targets on their backs" in jail. McBride said, "The public is giving a green light for them to be killed in prison."
Andrew Tate continues to post on his X account despite his detention. In a Sunday post, he claimed his human rights were violated, alleging he has no access to clean drinking water. Tate, who said he is held in the Special Housing Unit, stated: "My faucet is broken. I’m not allowed to have bottled water in the SHU. I have nothing clean to drink." He claimed the brown and dirty tap water caused stomach problems and questioned where his rights were.
Facing 59 separate charges
The UK Crown Prosecution Service has filed 38 new charges against the brothers, including rape, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offenses related to indecent images of children. Facing a total of 59 separate charges, the brothers deny all accusations.
The Tate brothers were arrested in Romania in 2022 on similar charges, including trafficking of minors and sexual abuse. Their defense team argues they are not a flight risk, noting they regularly attended hearings in Romania.
The Tate brothers, who have grown in popularity in recent years, have become dominant figures in the “manosphere,” a global online community that believes traditional masculinity is being undermined by political elites. Their ideology, characterized as misogynistic, conspiratorial, and far-right, is frequently criticized.
British authorities must submit the full extradition request by mid-September. A US judge will determine whether the request meets the evidence threshold. If bail is denied, the brothers will remain in jail during the process, which could last up to a year. The Tate brothers were arrested by US authorities on July 18.
