The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) participated in the Turkic World Dialogue Forum, held in Ankara on October 30-31 by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency on the sidelines of the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). In a statement on its participation in the forum, TİKA said, “Drawing strength from our common history, we continue to work for our common future.”
Photographs released by TİKA showed the slogan “From a Common History to a Common Future” and the inscription “More Than 6,000 Projects in the Turkic World to Date” on the panel of a stand bearing the logos of the OTS, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and TİKA. Visitors to the stand, which displayed the flags of OTS member and observer states, examined books including the Turkistan Album, the Divan of Mahtumkulu Firaki, and Fraternal Assistance (Qardaş Kömeyi).

Eren: From development aid to development cooperation
On the first day of the forum, TİKA President Abdullah Eren delivered a presentation titled “From a Common History to a Common Future: TİKA’s Development Vision in the Turkic World.” Eren said TİKA, which was established in 1992 to develop relations with the countries of the Turkic world, now operates through 57 offices in 53 countries. Emphasizing that Turkic states now have their own development agencies, Eren said they therefore use the term “development cooperation” instead of “development aid.”
According to figures cited by Eren, TİKA has carried out approximately 1,300 projects in education, more than 1,000 in cultural heritage and restoration, approximately 700 in health care, and approximately 400 in agriculture and livestock in the Turkic world. The number of projects in humanitarian assistance exceeded 3,000, while projects in administrative and civil capacity exceeded 100.
Forum features 114 speakers
According to a statement by the Directorate of Communications, the forum, held under the theme “From Ideas to Dialogue, Forward,” opened with speeches by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran. A total of 114 speakers from OTS member and observer states and various other countries took part in panel and roundtable sessions. TİKA was represented at the forum by President Eren as well as Vice President Buğra Aydın.
