President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Tufan Erhürman said in a statement ahead of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' visit to the island, "We are ready for the new process to begin."
In a written statement from the presidency, Erhürman emphasized that they did not engage in any positioning or blame games through the media ahead of Guterres' visit. He noted that Guterres is aware of the approaches that UN officials have formulated based on the Turkish Cypriot people's experiences to date.
Erhürman stated that they have been carrying out their work and consultations intensively and have concluded them as of today, adding, "We are ready for the process that will begin tomorrow with the visit of Ms. Holguin (UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy on Cyprus Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar)."
Reiterating their support for UN Secretary-General Guterres' efforts, Erhürman drew attention to the fact that they have been conducting their work in consultation with Turkey, as always. He added that the views of all segments will be sought during the process and that the guiding principle will be the will of the people.
