U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a post on his social media account that the Board of Peace had reached an agreement in Gaza on Hamas and other armed groups completely laying down their weapons.
Trump said, "Today, the Board of Peace reached a historic agreement on Hamas and all other armed groups in Gaza completely laying down their weapons." He said Israeli forces would withdraw as disarmament was completed and that the International Stabilization Force, together with a new Palestinian police force, would ensure security in Gaza.
Thanking Türkiye, Qatar and Egypt for their mediation roles, Trump said, "We have made historic progress, and there is still much work to do." He stressed that the agreement was a critical step toward Gaza being governed by a new Palestinian government.
U.S. official warns Israel
A U.S. official who spoke to The Washington Post on condition of anonymity said Hamas had accepted the draft agreement through Egyptian mediators, but that it was not substantially different from the 20-point plan Israel had agreed to in principle a year earlier. The official said, "We are asking nothing more of Israel than to adhere to the 20-point plan it initially accepted. If it does not, President Trump will be very disappointed."

Islamic Jihad denies agreement
The spokesperson for the Islamic Jihad Movement said in a written statement that reports of an announced agreement between Palestinian groups and Israel were untrue. The statement said, "The information announced in the media is not accurate. In its current form, we have reservations about it."
Hamas gives conditional approval
Gazi Hamad, a member of the Hamas negotiating delegation, told Al Jazeera that they would not take any steps toward disarmament until Israel fully fulfilled its commitments under the agreement. Hamad stressed that the issue of weapons was directly linked to other key issues, including Israel's withdrawal from Gaza and the reconstruction of the territory. Recalling that Israel had violated previous agreements, Hamad said, "Israel is an aggressive state built on treachery and killing."
Board of Peace representative Mladenov confirms agreement
Nickolay Mladenov, the Gaza Board of Peace's high representative, announced in a post on X that an agreement had been reached in Gaza on putting weapons out of use and civilian passage. Mladenov said Israel's withdrawal from the areas it occupies must proceed simultaneously with the laying down of weapons. He thanked Trump for his leadership in advancing the process and Türkiye, the United States, Egypt, Qatar and the UAE for their support during moments when negotiations had stalled. Mladenov said, "Ahead of us is a rebuilt Gaza, governed by Palestinians, living in peace with Israel, and a political horizon."
