The "Communiqué on the Administration of Quotas and Tariff Quotas in Imports" prepared by the Ministry of Trade was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. The communiqué sets out the usage principles of the tariff quota that provides exemption from additional financial obligations on imports of pet resin (with a viscosity of 78 ml/g or higher), which is used in many areas from food and beverage packaging to plastic bottles, films, and tubes.
The tariff quota amount determined for the duration of the safeguard measure was set at 12,041 tons for the first period, and 24,081 tons for each of the second and third periods. The maximum quota to be granted per period for goods originating from any single country or customs territory was limited to 4,014 tons in the first period and 8,027 tons in subsequent periods.
The quota distribution will be carried out on a 'first come, first served' basis. The maximum tariff quota amount that can be obtained under a single import license was set at 150 tons.
