Turkey has reacted strongly to the escalating attacks by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank. In a written statement on Friday, the Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the settlers' 'terror acts'.
The statement said the attacks that killed four Palestinians were carried out by 'terrorist settlers' encouraged by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government, and that this is a 'direct result of the genocide policy' pursued by Israel.
The ministry also reiterated its call to the international community 'to ensure that terrorist settlers who usurp Palestinian land and their backers do not go unpunished for their crimes.'
On Friday, attacks carried out by settlers and the Israeli army in 16 different locations across six West Bank governorates killed four Palestinians, wounded at least seven, and resulted in the detention of 11.
The attacks included opening fire, raids, beatings, burning a house and agricultural land, closing town entrances, and setting up military barricades.
There has been a marked rise in attacks by the Israeli military and settlers in the occupied West Bank since the devastating war on the Gaza Strip began in October 2023. According to Palestinian official data, these attacks have so far killed 1,182 Palestinians, wounded thousands, and led to the detention of around 24,000.
