Turkey will deliver the frigate 'Rear Admiral Roman' to the Romanian Navy tomorrow. The handover ceremony will be held with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Romanian President Nicusor Dan.
According to a statement from the Turkish defense company ASFAT, as part of the delivery, the offshore patrol vessel TCG Kınalıada will also be handed over to the Turkish Naval Forces. The company stated that this step is expected to elevate defense industry cooperation between Turkey and Romania to a new level.
The statement noted that the frigate is expected to make a significant contribution to the Romanian Navy's maritime security activities, particularly in the Black Sea. It was also stated that this delivery marks the first time Turkey has exported a warship to a NATO and European Union member state.
Separately, in Istanbul on Thursday, construction began on the second vessel for a naval logistics support ship project for the Portuguese navy.
