Turkey's Ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yılmaz congratulated the Syrian people on the opening and first session of the Syrian People's Assembly (parliament).
In a post on X, Yılmaz said, "Syria waited decades to regain the people's sovereignty, gave hundreds of thousands of lives, and hundreds of thousands spent their lives in prisons. Syria fully deserved this."
The ambassador added, "Our slogan is clear: The voice of the people is the voice of truth. Congratulations."
The first session of the new People's Assembly was held in the Syrian capital Damascus on Sunday after a one-week delay. President Ahmed al-Sharaa and some ministers and officials attended the session.
