Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the United Arab Emirates on September 28, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced on September 27. According to diplomatic sources, he will review preparations for the second meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council with Emirati officials.
The talks are expected to cover bilateral relations, freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb, the war in the Gulf, and developments in Yemen, Gaza and Lebanon. Fidan is expected to express Türkiye’s full solidarity with the UAE and stress regional ownership of regional problems rather than outside interference.
The UAE is Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf, with bilateral trade of about $19.3 billion in 2025. The council’s first meeting was held in Ankara on July 16, 2025.
Fidan has already visited the UAE twice this year, meeting President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed on January 14, and Sheikh Mohamed again on March 20. His meetings in Abu Dhabi have not yet been announced.
