The Turkish Historical Society has launched the Digital History Academy, developed to bring historical knowledge to wider audiences through the opportunities offered by the digital world.
The free platform serves a broad range of users, from students and researchers to teachers and history enthusiasts. Online seminars, video content, infographics, e-books, and podcasts prepared with contributions from academics are available on the platform.
Digital archive and library resources
The Digital History Academy provides access to the Turkish Historical Society’s electronic publications, the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Turkish History, digital library and archive resources, infographics, and other digital content.
The platform also provides access to more than 16,000 historical photographs and documents from the institution’s digital photo archive. The collections include materials belonging to important figures in Turkish culture and history, including Enver Pasha, Osman Ferit Sağlam, Esat Fuat Tugay, and Halil Ethem Eldem.
First educational series: General Turkish History Seminars
Turkish Historical Society President Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen said the project aims to deliver reliable historical knowledge to all segments of society through methods suited to the requirements of the modern age.
Özgen said users who successfully complete the history seminars on the platform will be entitled to receive certificates of participation.
The platform’s first educational series is the General Turkish History Seminars, which address Turkish history within a chronological framework. The series was prepared with contributions from Prof. Dr. Ahmet Taşağıl, Prof. Dr. Haşim Şahin, Prof. Dr. Feridun Emecen, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Çelik, and Prof. Dr. Haluk Selvi.
