Turkish journalist Ali Tarakcı has been arrested over a social media post saying that “a very important minister will resign on Friday,” in an investigation by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
An Ankara criminal judgeship of peace ordered his arrest on charges of publicly disseminating misleading information, and he was sent to Sincan prison. Access to his account was also blocked. In his statement, Tarakcı said the post was part of his journalistic work and based on insider information, and that he had not been referring to a specific minister.
