Darussafaka, a 163-year-old educational institution in Türkiye, has been named one of the top 10 finalists in the Overcoming Adversity category of the World’s Best School Prizes 2026, organised by UK-based T4 Education. The school was selected from applicants around the world.
Darussafaka provides full-scholarship boarding education to children who have lost a parent and lack the financial means for a good education. It reached the finals by supporting its students through scholarships, boarding life and high-quality teaching.

The category winner will be chosen by an expert jury. Darussafaka is also competing for the Community Choice Award, which is decided entirely by public vote. General Manager Ebru Arpaci has called on the public to take part. Voting is open until Oct. 29, 2026, on the competition page at applications.worldsbestschool.org.
Darussafaka is not the only Turkish school in this year’s top 10. Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara is also among the top 10 finalists in the Environmental Action category.
