Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that production of the second set of the national high-speed train, developed by Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc., has begun. This marks the start of serial production for the national high-speed train project.
Testing of the first national high-speed train set is ongoing. The train, which is planned to have an operating speed of 225 kilometers per hour, reached 250 kilometers per hour as part of dynamic running safety tests.
14 sets targeted over two years
Production of the national high-speed trains is planned to continue in line with the established schedule. Under the plan, a total of 14 electric high-speed train sets are targeted over two years: 7 in 2027 and 7 in 2028.
Each train set will consist of 8 cars and have a capacity of 577 passengers. The Train Control and Management System and the Traction System, among the trains' critical components, will be designed and produced using domestic capabilities in cooperation with ASELSAN.
Work continues at the high-speed train factory
Serial production is planned to continue at the new facility once Türkiye's first high-speed train factory is commissioned. Uraloğlu said the factory, built on an area of 18,000 square meters, had reached 90 percent completion.
Once the factory is completed, the production, assembly and testing of the national high-speed train sets are expected to be carried out at the same facility. The facility is targeted to have the capacity to produce one high-speed train per month.
