The HÜRKUŞ-II basic trainer developed by Turkish Aerospace entered the Turkish Air Force inventory on Monday. “Many countries from different parts of the world are interested in our aircraft. We know there is demand for hundreds of aircraft in the basic trainer market. Very soon we will start sharing HÜRKUŞ export news,” said Haluk Görgün, head of the Defense Industry Agency. The aircraft received Türkiye’s first military type certificate on September 9.

“We design with our own minds, produce with our own industry and offer it to the world,” Görgün said at the ceremony.
The HAVA SOJ aircraft, expected to be a major force multiplier for the Turkish Air Force’s electronic warfare capability, was also seen in the background of the ceremony. Built on the Bombardier Global 6000 platform, with electronic warfare systems developed by ASELSAN and integrated by TUSAŞ, HAVA SOJ is designed to detect, jam and deceive enemy radar and communication systems. Four aircraft are planned for the Air Force.
Speaking at the ceremony, Görgün said the procurement program, initially planned for 15 aircraft, has been expanded by 40 to a total of 55. HÜRKUŞ squadrons are expected to enter Air Force service in 2027, with all 55 aircraft to be delivered by the end of 2028. The aircraft, built with around 80% local content, underwent some 23,000 hours of testing during development. Görgün handed the delivery certificate for the first two aircraft to Air Force Commander Gen. Rafet Dalkıran.
