Turkish defense company ASELSAN demonstrated the capabilities of its KORKUT 35 air defense system to defense delegations from 12 countries on September 26 at the Ministry of National Defense’s firing test and evaluation range in Karapınar, in Türkiye’s central Konya province.
The live-fire tests showed the system’s ability to fire accurately while on the move, as well as to detect, track, engage and destroy targets under simulated operational conditions.
In scenarios built around the kamikaze drone threat that has become common in recent years, KORKUT successfully engaged both fixed-wing and delta-wing drones. In another scenario, the system, integrated on an 8x8 tactical wheeled vehicle, hit a moving ground target while both the vehicle and the target were in motion.
The demonstration highlighted KORKUT’s effectiveness against fighter jets, cruise missiles, air-to-ground missiles, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles.
