Türkiye’s Ambassador to Sofia Mehmet Sait Uyanık took the stage at the TEDxVitosha event held in Bulgaria’s capital and presented Türkiye’s vision for COP31. The embassy said Uyanık drew on the proverb “A neighbor needs a neighbor even for his ashes” to outline a perspective extending from neighborhood solidarity to global climate action.
The embassy summarized the speech with the words, “The climate crisis recognizes no borders. Neither should solidarity,” and underscored the message of “Dialogue, consensus and action” that Türkiye is highlighting for COP31, which it will host in Antalya from November 9 to 20. The full speech was published on YouTube by the embassy.

Türkiye’s Consul General in Burgas Tolga Orkun also visited the TCG Akçay vessel, which arrived at Varna Port as part of the Mine Countermeasures Group in the Black Sea (MCM BLACKSEA) operation. Photos shared by the consulate show Orkun on deck with the ship’s commander and signing the visitors’ book on board.

MCM BLACKSEA is a task group in which Türkiye, Bulgaria and Romania conduct joint operations against the threat of sea mines in the Black Sea. TCG Akçay is one of the minehunters in the inventory of the Turkish Naval Forces.

Consul General Orkun had recently also visited Varna Free University, which works with Turkish firefighters in Varna.
