According to a statement from the UK Ministry of Defence, the low-cost missile system called Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) has been integrated into RAF Typhoon fighter jets operating in the Middle East. Thanks to this system, the aircraft can neutralize drones and other aerial threats at a more affordable cost. The Ministry stated that APKWS can hit targets at a much lower cost than existing missiles. Defence Procurement and Industry Minister Luke Pollard said the system was tested and deployed in cooperation with industry within a few months, enabling the RAF to neutralize more drones. APKWS converts unguided missiles into precision-guided weapons using a laser targeting system. The Ministry expressed that such low-cost air defense systems provide a sustainable response to the increasing use of drones in modern conflicts.
