Ukrainian air defense units neutralized 264 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russia during the night-long attack. The attack reportedly began on the evening of June 3 and continued until the morning hours.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced that from 18:00 onwards, Russian forces used an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 293 strike UAVs in the attack. The vehicles used included Shahed-type drones, some jet-engine models, Gerbera, Italmas, Banderol-type loitering munitions, and Parodiya-type decoy drones.
The attack was launched from several regions
It was stated that UAV and missile launches were carried out from Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk regions in Russia. The attack also reportedly included the Chauda region in occupied Crimea.
The air attack was met by aviation, air defense missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups affiliated with Ukrainian defense forces. Defense elements tried to stop the air threat in the north, south, and east of the country.
Targets hit and damage
According to initial data, as of 08:00 on June 4, 264 UAVs were shot down or neutralized. However, a ballistic missile and 24 strike UAVs hit 11 different points.
It was also announced that debris from the downed drones fell in 12 separate locations. The attack had not completely ended by the morning hours, and some enemy drones were still in Ukrainian airspace.
Intense targeted night attack
This situation showed that Russia's attack, carried out with many aerial vehicles throughout the night, spread over a wide area. Although defense units neutralized most of them in the air, some areas experienced hits and damage caused by debris.
Information provided by officials revealed that the attack was a mixed air assault conducted with different types of drones and a ballistic missile. Details of the operation, which lasted until dawn, are expected to become clear in the coming hours.
