Ukrainian forces targeted the infrastructure used for military logistics at Mariupol Sea Trade Port, which is under Russian occupation. The attack damaged energy, repair, and administrative facilities, leaving the port without electricity and severely reducing its operational capacity.
Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces announced that the operation was carried out in coordination with the Azov 1st Corps of the National Guard, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Special Operations Center A. The statement noted that the port was being used by Russian forces for military supply activities.
It was also stated that the same port was used for the illegal transport of grain, coal, and metal from Ukraine to Russia. After the energy infrastructure was disabled by the attack, the port's loading and shipment operations were disrupted.
The forces said Russia's capacity to use Mariupol as a logistics center has been significantly reduced. The city fell to Russia after the 2022 siege and became a critical hub for personnel and material shipments in southern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian General Staff also confirmed previous attacks on the port area. According to an updated assessment on June 9, eight fuel tanks were destroyed and nine tanks damaged in the same area on June 5.
The occupation administration is alleged to have restricted some passenger transport routes passing through Mariupol due to Ukrainian drone activities. Thus, transportation and supply arrangements in the city continue to face pressure beyond the recent attack on the port.
Mariupol port stands out as one of the main centers for troop and resource movements along Russia’s southern occupation line. The latest attack has further complicated this logistical operation on the ground.
