The Joint Air Operations Center, which directs US air operations in the Middle East, reportedly suffered severe damage during Iran's attacks on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The report claims the center became unusable due to direct hits.
This center is known as one of the command points for US air operations in the region. According to the report, Iran launched numerous missiles at this target in Al Udeid during the early days of the conflict.
Preparations Made Before the War Began
It is alleged that the US military anticipated Iran might target the facility and managed command and control from a base at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina instead of Qatar from the very start of the war. Personnel assigned to the center were reportedly relocated elsewhere in advance.
Within this context, the attacks are said to have caused not only physical damage but also disrupted the command structure. The report states that the center lost its functionality during the war period.
No Official Statement Issued
So far, the US administration and Central Command have not commented on the damage to the center. CENTCOM has also reportedly declined to answer questions related to the matter.
The report also reminded that the Joint Air Operations Center is affiliated with the Air Forces Central Command, a component of CENTCOM’s air assets. This structure plays a key role in US air operations in the region.
Waves of Iranian Attacks
During the conflict that began with US and Israeli strikes on February 28 and paused with a temporary ceasefire on April 8, Iran reportedly launched missile and drone attacks not only against Israel but also against US military bases and targets in the region.
The report indicated these attacks occurred in approximately 100 waves. The center at Al Udeid Air Base was reportedly one of the direct targets of these assaults.
