Vice President Yılmaz said efforts to end the war and establish a just, lasting peace were discussed at the Coalition of the Willing’s online leaders’ summit, held to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
Yılmaz said Turkey continues to support Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
Yılmaz highlights risks in the Black Sea
Yılmaz said the war should be brought to an end through negotiations before causing further loss of life and destruction. He said the increase in attacks in the Black Sea, particularly in recent times, poses serious risks to the safety of people and property as well as navigational safety.
Yılmaz said the attacks also threaten global food security, adding that work was under way to restore safe navigation based on the experience gained from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
Emphasis on diplomacy
Yılmaz said Turkey, as Ukraine’s strategic partner and a member of the Coalition of the Willing, would continue its active efforts prioritizing diplomacy for a ceasefire and lasting peace. He said work in this direction would continue with determination.
