The Interior Ministry announced a new development in the case of Nesim B., who went missing in the Eleşkirt district of Ağrı on 30 October 2013. In its statement, the ministry said the file has been converted into a 'willful homicide' investigation, based on the assessment that the individual may have been killed.
Reopened investigation and comprehensive reviews
Under the coordination of the Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, special teams formed by the Homicide Bureau of the Ağrı Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch took the file back under review in 2026.
As part of the investigation, 33 different camera recordings from 2013, approximately 220 hours of City Security Management System (KGYS) footage, HTS and base station records, and data on vehicle movements were re-analyzed. Extensive field work was also carried out in the city center, districts, and villages.
Incident found to have been pre-planned
The reviews uncovered significant findings indicating that the incident was pre-planned, that Nesim B. was brought to the Ağrı city center and killed, and that suspects believed to be connected to the incident played roles at different stages of the murder.
Following these findings, simultaneous operations were conducted in Ağrı, İzmir, Manisa, and Konya. Five suspects, identified as H. K., S. K., M. K., S. K., and D. B., were detained on allegations of being the perpetrators of the murder.
Work continues meticulously
The Interior Ministry's statement noted that efforts to shed light on all aspects of the murder of Nesim B. and to locate his body are continuing meticulously.
The ministry congratulated the police teams who carried out the operation, the Ağrı Provincial Police Department, the Ağrı Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and all those who contributed to the investigation.
