Turkish actress Afra Saraçoğlu, whose hair sample tested positive for cocaine in a celebrity drug investigation run by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, issued her first statement on the case. In a written statement on Instagram, she said she had waited because her forensic medicine report had only been added to the case file that day.
“As soon as I learned of the investigation, I cut short my trip abroad, returned to my country of my own will and fully cooperated with the judicial authorities from the start,” she said, adding that searches of her home while she was abroad found no criminal evidence or illegal substances.

“From what I have learned from experts, hair is extremely exposed to external factors. Such technical traces can apparently remain through passive exposure or contact, without one being aware of it, at the crowded events I attend because of my profession. The fact that my blood and urine are clean already confirms that I am not a user,” she said.

Saraçoğlu thanked the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the judicial authorities, apologized for occupying the public agenda and said: “I am absolutely against the use of illegal substances; it has no place in my life and never will.”
According to the forensic report, cocaine was found in Saraçoğlu’s hair sample, while actor Aras Bulut İynemli’s blood, urine and hair samples were negative. Prosecutors had ordered the detention of 19 suspects on September 18 as part of the investigation.
