Presidential Communications Director Burhanettin Duran said Ankara would continue to oppose policies targeting regional peace and stability in response to remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning Türkiye and Syria.
Responding to questions from Anadolu Agency, Duran described Netanyahu's threats and accusations against Türkiye and Syria as a reflection of the Israeli prime minister's growing international isolation and domestic political concerns.
Duran argued that Netanyahu was attempting to use anti-Türkiye rhetoric in domestic politics and said the Israeli government's policies, extending from Gaza to Syria and Lebanon, had seriously damaged Israel's position internationally.
Duran said the Netanyahu government's attempt to blame Türkiye following its attacks in Syria was also part of this policy.
“Türkiye poses no threat to Israel”
Responding to a question about whether Israel's circle of attacks could expand toward Türkiye following Netanyahu's remarks directly targeting the country, Duran stressed that Türkiye did not pose a threat to Israel.
According to Duran, the Israeli government's stance toward Türkiye is rooted in Ankara's regional power and its opposition to policies that it believes harm regional security and stability.
Emphasizing that Türkiye is a strong NATO country, Duran said the country was increasing its influence regionally and globally, strengthening its military capacity and continuing to develop its capabilities.
“There is nothing we cannot do for the survival of our state”
Responding to a question about how Türkiye would respond to the policies of the Israeli government, Duran said Ankara would continue to stand with countries pursuing peaceful policies in the region, particularly Syria.
Describing Türkiye as a cautious and strong country with a deep-rooted state tradition, Duran made notable remarks regarding the country's security.
Duran conveyed that Türkiye would not hesitate to take the necessary steps when its own security, the survival of the state and the welfare of its people were at stake.
The Communications Director said, “As Türkiye, we will continue to combat the destabilizing activities of genocidal Netanyahu and stand with all states in our region, particularly Syria, that pursue peaceful policies.”
“Türkiye will never allow this”
Duran said Türkiye was also too experienced to be drawn into a new conflict in the region and noted that Ankara would continue its policy prioritizing peace and stability.
Strongly criticizing the Netanyahu government's policies in the region, Duran said Türkiye would pursue a peaceful but determined foreign policy in response to these efforts.
At the end of his statement, Duran said, “No one can disrupt the peace of our people and our friends. Türkiye will never allow this.”
