Antalya tourism police continue their work to ensure that visitors can enjoy the city’s historic and tourist areas and beaches in a safe and comfortable environment.
Teams from the Tourism Police Branch Directorate of the Antalya Police Department work in coordination with other security units and institutions in areas that attract large numbers of visitors. They help tourists resolve problems, find addresses and directions, and locate lost property and passports.
Multilingual support
Police officer Erhan Sebit, who has been assigned to the Tourism Police Branch for about a year, said he speaks Russian, Kyrgyz and English. Sebit said his foreign-language skills make it easier to communicate with tourists and help resolve problems more quickly.
Sebit said he assisted a Russian tourist in her own language while he was on duty at Konyaaltı Beach after she lost her child. The teams found the 10-year-old child shortly afterward and reunited him with his mother.
Guidance in tourist areas
Sebit said the duties of the tourism police are not limited to providing security, adding that the teams also inform visitors about historic and tourist attractions. This work helps tourists move around the city more easily and explore Antalya.
Police officer Serdar Kunduz, who works at the marina in Kaleiçi, said the Tourism Police also play an important role in promoting Antalya alongside their security duties.
Kunduz said police officers quickly answer tourists’ questions, provide directions and assist in locating lost property. This work is carried out in coordination with local businesses, the coast guard and relevant institutions.
