ASELSAN is in talks with Spain to offer alternatives for some contracts cancelled under Spain’s embargo on Israel, according to Spanish defense outlet Infodefensa, which interviewed company officials at ASELSAN’s headquarters in Ankara. "We are also talking with Spain about some specific payloads, some contracts that have been cancelled," a company official said.
Spain’s Defense Ministry cancelled contracts worth nearly €1 billion with Israel in 2025, including contracts for the SILAM multiple rocket launcher and Spike anti-tank missiles.
What could be offered?
ASELSAN has no direct substitute for the PULS launcher or the Spike missile, but it says it can offer electronic warfare pods for drones, high-power amplifiers, AESA radars, electro-optical systems, thermal cameras, target acquisition sensors, laser and imaging guidance systems and tactical radios in areas affected by the embargo. ASELSAN has also carried out coastal surveillance demonstrations in Spain.

Company officials stressed that they want long-term partnerships rather than just product sales, and are open to technology transfer and joint software development.
The HÜRJET link
ASELSAN systems will also be used on the HÜRJET trainers that are to replace the F-5s of Spain’s Air and Space Force. Spain is expected to order 30 aircraft initially, possibly rising to 45, in a program in which Airbus works with TUSAŞ.
