A bill concerning the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, also known as the "Mecca Alliance," signed by Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, has been submitted to the Speaker's Office of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.
The agreement was signed in Mecca on Aug. 7 by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman.

Joint deterrence
According to the bill, the agreement reflects the three countries' commitment to developing "regional solutions to regional problems" and their shared strategic vision focused on regional security and stability. It aims to strengthen the security of the three countries through joint deterrence and defense.

After the agreement was signed, the Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate's Center for Countering Disinformation said it did not contradict Türkiye's existing alliance commitments, including NATO, and did not target any third country or bloc. According to the statement, the agreement covers defense industry cooperation, military training, technology sharing and strengthening regional stability.
Pakistan has also reaffirmed its commitment to Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and territorial integrity under the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement following recent Houthi attacks on the kingdom.
