On the second night of his summer tour, Bob Dylan performed the song "You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere" live for the first time since 2012, a song he had not brought to the stage for years. The performance opened the concert in Woodinville, Washington.
This choice came immediately after the surprise Dylan made on the first night of the tour. At that concert, the artist played "Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby" for the first time in 59 years, surprising the audience.
The second big surprise of the concert
Although "You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere" is a well-known song in Dylan’s repertoire, it is noted that the last time he performed it live was in 2012. On stage, Dylan also gave space for light harmony vocals from guitarists Doug Lancio and Bob Britt.
This detail pointed to a stage approach rarely seen from Dylan in recent years. It is reported that in earlier periods, his bandmates more frequently joined in vocals, but this practice largely receded over time.
Following the surprise of the first night
The song "Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby", played at the start of the tour, stood out as one of Dylan’s deepest tracks that he had not touched for years. These two consecutive nights of selections increased interest in the tour’s set list.
The rest of the program on the second night largely resembled the first. Dylan removed the Bo Diddley cover "I Can Tell" from the set, added "Love Sick" instead, and made slight changes to the order of some songs.
Other performers of the night
The concert poster also featured Lucinda Williams and the John Doe Folk Trio. On the first night, John Doe performed some songs from his band X and the Judy Garland standard "Over The Rainbow".
Lucinda Williams brought classics like "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" and "Joy" to the stage. Thus, the night attracted attention not only for Dylan’s unexpected repertoire move but also for the accompanying performances.
Tour to conclude in August
Initially announced without a name, the tour was seen referenced as "Long Hot Summer Tour 2026" on t-shirts sold at the merch stand. Dylan’s tour continued on June 7 with the second concert at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville, with the finale planned for August 1 in Nashville.
The artist’s turn toward deep catalog songs in the last two concerts in a row has become the most talked-about aspect of the tour for fans. Especially the consecutive performances of long-unplayed songs have increased interest in the rest of the set list as well.
