Bulgaria’s government has approved a draft agreement with Türkiye to establish a new joint border crossing north of the existing Kapıkule–Kapitan Andreevo Border Crossing.
A commission is expected to be established between the two countries for the planned border crossing, which is to be named “Kapıkule/Kapitan Andreevo–North.”

The commission’s duties
The commission will determine the routes of the roads leading to the new border crossing and the points where those roads will intersect the border. The technical specifications of the border crossing will also fall within the commission’s remit.

The commission will also consider which types of traffic the crossing will serve, its operating hours and the number of crossing lanes. Infrastructure, the types of cargo and passengers to be transported, and operating conditions will also be assessed.
