The Çanakkale Governor's Office issued a warning about the risk of forest fires due to the high temperatures, strong winds, and low humidity expected across the province in the coming days.
In a statement on its social media account, the governor's office said that weather conditions will pose a high fire risk for four days starting Wednesday, July 29.
The statement issued the following warnings to citizens:
- Do not light fires in or near forested areas.
- Do not burn stubble; remember that stubble burning is legally prohibited.
- Keep fire extinguishing equipment and a water tanker on combine harvesters and other agricultural machinery.
- Do not discard cigarette butts, glass bottles, or other waste in nature.
The governor's office emphasized that a small precaution can prevent major disasters, and asked that if smoke, fire, or any suspicious situation is encountered, the 112 Emergency Call Center be called without delay.
