Car imports in Iran increased by 47% in the first two months of the year compared to the same period last year. Foroud Asgari, head of the Iran Customs Administration, announced that 11,000 cars were brought into the country between March 21 and May 22.
Asgari noted that this rise represents a significant increase compared to the same period last year. The announcement coincided with the anniversary of the implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union.
4,538 Vehicles Imported in the First Month
According to Asgari's figures, 4,538 vehicles were imported during the first month of the current Iranian calendar year, from March 21 to April 22. This shows that imports continued in the second month, bringing the two-month total to 11,000.
The Iranian side views this increase in car imports alongside the expansion of trade and customs flows. The statement emphasized that the numbers show a clear rise compared to the same period last year.
Following the enforcement of the Free Trade Agreement, economic interactions between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union are being closely monitored. In the same evaluation, the increase in car imports was highlighted as part of this economic framework.
