Construction of the Kadıköy Rıhtım Mosque kicked off yesterday with the driving of the first pile. Erol Kaya, Chairman of the Kadıköy Rıhtım Mosque Construction and Sustenance Association, said the project will be not just a place of worship but also a social and cultural facility.
Kaya said, "We will build a complex with art workshops, a library, conference halls, a soup kitchen, a condolence house, and a Quran course for ages 4-6. Our magnificent work will have four minarets. The ones at the back will have three balconies, and the ones at the front will have two."
Touching on ground reinforcement works, Kaya stated, "Around 2,100 piles will be driven into the area. For ground reinforcement, around 6,000 jet grout piles will also be driven."
The mosque, where 7,000 people can pray at the same time, will have a closed parking lot for 750 vehicles and an open parking lot for 300 vehicles. Construction is planned to be completed in three years.
