An elderly visitor examining domestically made defense products at TEKNOFEST Southeast in Şanlıurfa recounted how his father and uncle fought against the French occupation.

Standing next to a Bayraktar TB2 drone, the man said his father and uncle did not even have rifles at the time and walked from Şanlıurfa to Gaziantep. "My father and my uncle took care of the French, I heard it from them with my own ears. They were ordinary citizens who fought for the homeland. There were no rifles. My uncle died, my father went and brought him back, then went again. They fought hungry and thirsty," he said.

Baykar published the footage with the note: "Today we stand guard from the skies over these lands that ordinary citizens defended with their blood and lives."

Urfa was freed from French occupation on April 11, 1920, after local resistance. Another elderly visitor, 73-year-old İsmail Bakadur, attended the festival in traditional dress, examining the aircraft on display and chatting with students.
