Presidential Chief Adviser Mehmet Uçum said in an assessment of the next election timetable: "It has largely become clear that the election will be held in March or April 2028."
Referring to work on a new constitution, Uçum said: "We can regard Oct. 1, 2026, as the start of the process of drafting the new constitution."
Regular date is May 7, 2028

The regular date for Türkiye’s next general election is May 7, 2028. Uçum had earlier proposed Sunday, April 16, 2028, for the presidential vote, arguing that it would not be an "early election" but merely bringing the regularly scheduled vote forward by about three weeks.
According to Uçum, bringing the vote forward would require a parliamentary decision to renew elections, which could be taken in February 2028. He has also stressed that, if parliament makes such a decision, it would be constitutionally possible for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to run again.
