President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the sidelines of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, hosted by Türkiye in Ankara.
The meeting, held at the Presidential Complex, took place behind closed doors on Wednesday as part of Erdoğan's bilateral engagements.
The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, AK Party Deputy Chairman and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, National Intelligence Organization (MİT) Director İbrahim Kalın, Presidential Communications Director Burhaneddin Duran, and the President's Chief Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç.
Following the meeting, Erdoğan and Starmer signed various bilateral agreements.
This is the second time Türkiye has hosted a NATO summit, after the 2004 Istanbul summit. The summit carries particular significance due to the challenges facing the alliance and the global security system.
