A facility established for the mass production of humanoid robots has opened in Šabac, in western Serbia. The Serbian government described it as Europe’s first mass-production base in this field.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Minth Group founder Qin Ronghua attended the opening of the factory, which is jointly operated by China-based Minth Group and Chinese robotics company AGIBOT.
Total investment to reach 200 million euros
An investment of 20 million euros was made for the first phase of the project. Once the planned Robotics Industrial Park in Inđija, in northern Serbia, is completed, total investment is expected to reach 200 million euros.
Once the project is completed, the facility is expected to produce 20,000 humanoid robots and robot dogs annually for European and global markets.
Annual target of 5,000 robots in the first phase
Vučić said he hoped the facility would initially assemble more than 5,000 robots a year. Describing the project as a step toward a new technological era for Serbia, Vučić said the country needed to keep pace with the technological advances of leading powers.
Qin Ronghua announced that the company plans to expand its product range in Serbia to include unmanned aerial vehicles and advanced batteries.
Opened after visit to China
The facility opened after Vučić’s visit to China in May. During the visit, Vučić toured Minth Group’s innovation center in Shanghai and watched demonstrations of robotic technologies.
