Explosion at factory in Qatar: 54 injured, 18 missing
An explosion at a facility in Qatar's Ras Laffan industrial area injured 54 people, with 18 others reported missing.
The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced that an explosion occurred at a facility in the country's Ras Laffan industrial area.
The ministry stated in a post on the social media platform X that 54 people were injured in the incident.
It was reported that the Lekhwiya search and rescue team, affiliated with the Internal Security Forces, and the Civil Defense Department are conducting an operation at the site to locate 18 missing persons.
The explosion was described as being caused by a 'technical accident' and not posing a threat to public health.
According to information reported in the press, the facility is known to supply gas to the domestic market. No statement was made regarding whether the explosion caused any damage to the facility.
Residents living in various districts of the capital Doha reported feeling unusual, earthquake-like tremors on Sunday evening.
