AK Party Deputy Chairman and Head of Relations with Turkic States Prof. Dr. Kürşad Zorlu announced that footballers from the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) will be considered domestic, rather than foreign, players in each other's leagues.
Speaking to journalists at the AK Party General Headquarters, Zorlu said the decision was taken at a summit of football federations hosted by the Türkiye Football Federation last week. Zorlu said, "Our footballers will now be considered domestic players rather than foreign players in each other's leagues," adding that the move would create a football ecosystem across the Turkic world.

Turkic States Football Cup planned every two years
Zorlu said a Turkic States Football Cup was also planned to be held every two years among the Turkic states. The start date, host and participating countries have not yet been announced.
Implementation details of the arrangement have also not been finalized. Clubs in Türkiye are subject to a foreign-player limit in their squads; it has not yet been announced how the new status will affect that limit.
13th summit in Ankara
The remarks came ahead of the OTS's 13th Summit of Heads of State. The OTS Council of Foreign Ministers will meet in Ankara on October 29, while a leaders' summit will be held on October 30 under the theme "Turkish Century: Unity in Language, Thought and Action," hosted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With the summit, the organization's chairmanship will pass to Türkiye.
Zorlu said the summit agenda also includes issues such as a common museum card system, shared counters at airports and a joint e-commerce platform. The Turkic World Women's Diplomacy Forum will also be held on October 30.
