Former union leaders who previously served as general presidents of Turk-Is and DISK, as well as general presidents, central executives, and branch presidents in various unions, issued a joint statement. The unionists opposed the 'absolute nullity' ruling, describing the process as a 'judicial coup' and reacting against the decision.
ITS AIM IS TO SAVE THE CURRENT POLITICAL POWER
The statement emphasized that the ruling was made by a non-independent authority and included the following remarks regarding the decision's target: 'We, the unionists who have served in various confederations and unions and whose signatures appear below, strongly condemn the absolute nullity ruling, which is a judicial coup contrary to law, democracy, justice, and conscience.
The aim of the absolute nullity ruling, taken by a non-independent authority contrary to law, is to make the ballot box a formality and to save the current political power.' 'THOSE WHO ACCEPT ENTERING WITH POLICE ASSISTANCE...' The text, which included criticisms towards those who conducted the process and those who accepted the ruling, emphasized personal ambition.
The statement said, 'We strongly condemn those who had this unlawful and politically motivated nullity ruling issued, those who accepted it, and those who condoned entering our country's founding party with police assistance.' The declaration also stated, 'They have raised a flag against democracy, the will of the delegates, and moreover, the will of the nation for their personal ambitions. History will record this great betrayal.
Absolute nullity, beyond the personal betrayal of those who accept it, is the elimination of the nation's hope in the ballot box.'
THE ISSUE IS NOT JUST THE CHP, BUT THE COUNTRY AND DEMOCRACY
The union representatives stated that the real target of the ruling is to neutralize the Republican People's Party (CHP) and create space for the government.
Pointing to the government's election strategy, the text made the following assessment: 'The aim of absolute nullity is to neutralize the CHP, which represents a growing hope for change, to allow the AKP political power to enter elections in a rose garden without thorns, and to make the ballot box a formality. The issue is not just the CHP, but the country, law, and democracy.
'WE STAND WITH THE ELECTED ADMINISTRATION AND OZGUR OZEL' The statement, which reminded that the sole power in democracies is the people, expressed support for CHP Leader Ozgur Ozel and the elected administration, and called for an immediate congress: 'Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. We stand against nullity, with the elected CHP administration and the elected CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel. The nullifiers are not legitimate.
The only thing they must do is to ensure the Congress convenes as soon as possible. If the delaying and obstruction games of the nullifiers continue, the people's hope must be kept alive; those who trust the nation, those who trust the ballot box, those who trust justice and law must thwart the game of the nullifiers.
